This video, created by University Archivist Evan Earle, shows a 1925 copy of Rudyard Kipling’s “Kim“ from Cornell University Library’s Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections, with a hidden painting on its edges -- a technique known as fore-edge painting. The book is one of a series by an artist known as Miss C.B. Currie, and the book -- one of several with fore-edge painting in Cornell’s collections -- is unique in that it includes a laid-in photo of the scene depicted.
