GEE GEE KETTEL (ONE MAN BAND) MALMO 2012

In Malmo, Sweden, I came on a one-day trip from Copenhagen, which stands on the opposite Bank of the Öresund just in 19 km. After exploring the city, I decided to return back to the station not directly, but by walking through other old streets and squares. I have been walking slowly, taking photos along the way, and suddenly I heard my favorite song Summer Wine in some unfamiliar performance somewhere ahead of me. The sound was rich and high-quality. Well, I thought they were playing a CD in some cafe. But no, at the intersection, a guitar player sits with drums and a hi-hat and a strapped-on harmonica and sings. I was stunned! I bought a CD from him and started shooting it on video. He played roughly the same repertoire that Paolo Sgallini is doing also - Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley. He introduced himself as Gee Gee Kettel. He positioned himself - like Paolo Sgallini - as a ’One man band’, i.e. one person orchestra. I asked him if he knew the Italian
