Complete band saw gear box rebuild, guide bearing and motor bearing replacement repair teardown

I got this band saw at an estate auction for $25. It was pretty rough, so I expected to have to do some work on it beyond chipping away the big chunks of rusted on metal dust. I ended up replacing the bearings on the band guides. I also disassembled the motor to replace a bad bearing and stop the centrifugal switch from squeaking (clean and grease). At this point I thought I was done, but on my test cut, the saw started to make a terrible noise. I opened the gear box and realized the bearings on the input shaft had exploded. So I rebuilt the gear box with all new bearings and seals, and 2 new snap rings. After this, the saw cut nicely! It could probably use a new blade, but it’s good for now. The gear box is similar to most horizontal metal cutting band saws, including central machinery from harbor freight. This saw is a Jet OCP 03-03 7 x 12 hydraulic feed metal cutting saw. restoration / full rebuild. Chapters: 0:00 Guide rebuild and general clean up 7:31 Motor rebuild 17:04 Gear box rebuild
