Assistive Technology | Proloquo2Go | Self-Determination

Self-determination and assistive technology devices help me live a self-directed life. In this video, I share some of the key assistive technology devices I use that enable me to live in my own apartment. Here are the different types of assistive technology that I talk about in the video: 1. Proloquo2Go: The communication app I use on my phone. I’m able to pre-program what I want to say or type things out if I’m having a conversation with someone. 2. Bluetooth: I use this to increase the volume coming out of my speaking device when I present before a large group. 3. Amazon Echo or Google Home: For turning lights on and off, playing music, getting the weather, etc. 4. Remote door opener: To let guests and help-staff in and to let myself in and out. I have one on my bed and one connected to my wheelchair. 5. Video doorbell camera: So I can see who is at my door and decide if I want to let them in.
