On To Antananarivo (1942)

The British troops move down to Antananarivo, coming across the obstacles of small bush fires and a bridge across the Betsiboka River which had been blown up. The British and South African advance moves on through Mevatanana, Mahatsinjo and Ankazobi where we see overturned French lorries by the side of the road, caused by effective gunfire. The river at Ankazobi has to be bridged by using reeds, rushes and bamboo shoots, supported by timber and boulders for the trucks to travel over. Soldiers discover a revolving gun turret used as a machine-gun nest. Roads have to be cleared of tree obstacles left by the retreating Vichy French. General v
