LIVE: Moscow rally commemorates 101st anniversary of Armenian genocide

Thousands of people are due to take to the streets of Moscow on Sunday, April 24, to commemorate the 101th anniversary of the genocide of ethnic Armenians in the former Ottoman Empire. The genocide took place in the Ottoman Empire during and after World War I, between the period 1915 to 1923. Commemorations have taken place on April 24 since the 1920s, marking the date in 1915 when hundreds of Armenian intellectuals were arrested in the Ottoman capital of Constantinople, before being executed.
