Anglers All (1929)

Filmed at Southend in Essex. Introductory intertitle reads: “The Angling Girl to the Pier has gone, In the ranks of hope you’ll find her“ - (With apologies to “The Minstrel Boy“)“ This might be a reference to a popular song from a musical of the time. High angle shot of a large number of anglers on Southend Pier. “With such experience in hooking all sorts of catches you’d think Eve would stand a good chance in the Angling Competition.“ Top shot of two women sitting at the edge of the pier with fishing rods. They are middle aged women in Macintoshes and hats. M/S of two other women sitting on the pier chatting. M/S of elderly woman holding a fishing rod. C/U of an elderly man with a fishing rod - he is a real “sea dog“ with a cap, pipe and long grey beard. “Baiting - the kind of job disliked by every Eve, whether she comes from Southend or Yugotoblazia - “ C/U of a woman’s hands as she puts maggot on to a hook. Great shot of woman (30ish) casting off with ships in the background off the pier
