This time I decided to build a router circle cutting jig. A trim router is a very useful and a handy tool in the workshop and a circle cutting jig is one of the basic tools for a router. In this video I am showing how to build such jig to make perfect circles. The circle jig has a measuring tape on the bottom. You can adjust the radius and make circles of different diameters - in this case min is 2cm & max 60cm. While making the circle cutting jig I let the slider get as close as possible to the router bit to be able to cut circles with a small diameter. I am very happy with the result. Save money and built this useful circle cutting jig yourself. It is a simple woodworking project and you’ll see how useful it is. Watch the entire video for a step by step guide how to build this router jig and make perfect circles in wood.

I started out by measuring the width of the router and cutting a slot in an MDF desk. I trimmed a bit right next to the slot as well for a metric ruler. After that I cut a slot in the Plywood desk creating a T-slot together with the MDF desk. I temporarily fixed the desks together using a double sided tape and cut off the excess of wood to make the jig lighter. The width of the MDF desk is 5 mm - not only the jig is lighter but also it does not take away much from the router bit and you’re able to cut as deep as possible. I marked where the bolts of the router are and drilled in holes from the bottom to sink them in completely. As for the adjustment mechanism I used a piece of plywood. Sanded it well from all slides so that it slides well in the MDF slot and fixed in a ⌀4 mm brass pin that serves as the pivoting pin.
Tips:
- Use a smooth thin MDF desk as base for the router circle jig. The jig slides smoothly on the surface while cutting
- Let the slider as close as possible to the router bit to be able to make small radius circles
