ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: FRANCE: NOTRE DAME A PARIS

(13 May 1999) STORY QUASIMODO TO HIT ALBUM CHARTS Producers of the hugely successful French musical NOTRE DAME DE PARIS are hoping to repeat the phenomenal sales of the soundtrack album in French speaking territories, when it’s released to the rest of the world later this month. LUC PLAMONDON’s musical adaptation of the Victor Hugo story first hit the stage in Paris, in September 1998. It was an instant smash hit and the touring production, currently in Canada is sold out until April 2000. The three males leads PATRICK FIORI (PHOEBUS), GAROU (QUASIMODO) and DANIEL LAVOIE (FROLLO) went to the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo to promote the English language version of the soundtrack. The French version has already sold over three million copies in the French territories. LUC PLAMONDON is perhaps best known for his rock opera ’STARMANIA’ which has been seen by three million people and has sold five million copies of the soundtrack.
