Making A Handmade Book - Part 5 - Finishing the Book - Marbled Paper & Casing In
Follow along as I bring the Handmade Book project to its conclusion! In this video I finish work on the case of the book. I trim out the leather and in-fill with card stock to bring the boards level with the leather. This has the effect of pulling the cover boards out of shape, so I line the inside covers with bond paper to counteract the pull of the outer paper.
Next I take my handmade marbled paper and burnish it with beeswax and an agate burnishing tool. From there I cut the outer papers and glue them to the book covers, finally completing the case. Then I paste down the endpapers and nip the book in the press overnight.
