Albums : BIOGRAPHY Marc-André Gautier’s musical career took off at the tender age of 9 when the young virtuoso took first prize in the Canadian Music Competition. Not satisfied with a mere win, his near-perfect score of 99.8% set the record for highest mark in the history of the competition. This tour-de-force performance caught the attention of Canada’s most renowned orchestras. He was soon performing with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Ottawa, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. At 14 years old, Marc-André was invited to play in front of more than 100,000 people at the Canada Day celebration in Ottawa. A veritable child prodigy incarnate, awards and first prizes proliferated: the Concertino Praga (Czech Republic), the French Music Competition, a YTV Achievement Award, the I Musici Competition, the prestigious Premio Paganini International Violin Competition (Italy), the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, as well as the 29th Radio-Canada National Competition. He has taken home first prize in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition twice and earned the Grace Elliott Trudeau Prize for Excellence in Performing. Born with a violin in his hand, Marc-André has also studied at the world’s best music schools: the Calgary Conservatory, Indiana University (with Myriam Fried), the Salzburg Mozarteum, Switzerland’s Verbier Academy and Festival, Chicago’s Steans Institute for Young Artists, Israel’s Second Jerusalem Chamber Music Encounters (with Isaac Stern). Il ne se contente pas de terminer bon premier, il obtient aussi la meilleure note de l’histoire de ce concours avec un quasi-parfait 99,8%. Ce tour de force lui ouvre la porte des plus grands orchestres du Canada. Il se produit notamment avec l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, l’Orchestre du Centre National des Arts d’Ottawa et l’Orchestre Symphonique de Toronto.
