Amazing RC XFY Pogo Demo: Hoot Gibson’s Scratch-Built Marvel!

I had a number of questions about the XFY Pogo from my post yesterday, so I thought I’d show this masterpiece in action. This is Astronaut and aviation legend (and now Academy of Model Aeronautics Hall of Fame member 😊) Hoot Gibson demonstrating the power system and gearbox operation of his scratch-built RC XFY Pogo. He designed and built the entire airframe himself, including the gearbox for the counter-rotating propellers, which was originally powered by a glow engine and has since been converted to electric. The model has only ever hovered at about 4“ on a tether to date and needs more testing before considering a full flight.
