What is Microlearning? [2-Minute Explainer]

Microlearning is bite-sized learning content delivered when and where the learner needs it. The microlearning method is an approach to skill acquisition that uses small learning units instead of long-form content. Microlearning is also called “bite sized learning“ or “just in time learning“. These years, this concept is trending within e-learning, corporate training and education in general. The reason? A rise in digital devices, fast internet and a want to learn the same way we consume media elsewhere. Microlearning is an effective method of consuming learning content as we can’t hold on to much more than 5 to 9 facts at a time anyway. This just-in-time principle let’s us learn a little at a time, more often. A best-practice piece of microlearning content should be digital, mobile, searchable and useful in itself.
