This single-celled creature is about 20 microns in diameter and is shown here nicely imaged with a Zeiss 63X Planapo Phase Objective. It has a long whip-like flagellum which it uses both for locomotion and to explore its surroundings. Because of it’s symbiotic relationship with the chlorophyll that it contains, It is able to obtain it’s energy directly from the sun by converting sunlight into simple sugars.
