1/4 China Flood, Severe Rain Storms Hit 9 Provinces in South, Bridges Collasped & Dams Broke
According to local media reports, on the afternoon of May 7th, Dongguan experienced strong thunderstorms, accompanied by wind gusts of level 8 to 9, with some areas experiencing level 10 to 11. Five towns recorded more than 50 millimeters of precipitation, with the largest amount in Shatian at 63.9 millimeters and 30 millimeters of precipitation recorded in 10 minutes. Netizens joked that it was not raining but pouring water. The highest gust was 31.4 meters/second, level 11, in Songshan Lake.
Not only Guangdong Province, but the entire southern region of China has entered the flood season in recent days! Since May 4th, provinces and cities such as Jiangxi, Fujian, and Hunan have also experienced heavy rainfall. Heavy rain has caused flooding in villages and farmland in many provinces and cities in Southern China, where roads turned to rivers, vehicles submerged, and river banks collapsed and roads were destroyed, resulting in heavy losses to local residents.
