Geopolitical Tensions Taking Center Stage | BDSwiss Weekly Market Outlook

-Iran Attacks Militant forces backed by Iran have attacked US troops in Jordan causing three soldiers to be killed. The attack was done by drones according to statements from US President Biden and happened near the border to Syria. Several more people have been injured. According to US intelligence, the attacks have been organised by radical troops, which operate in Syria and Iraq. Currently oil prices are moving higher as tensions rise. -ECB Rates After the interest rate decision from the ECB and a press conference last week, French central banker, Villeroy de Galhau stated that there will be rate adjustments this year. Without mentioning an exact date, though, he pointed out that cuts will be debated upon during the next ECB meetings. Currently, the EUR has been again under pressure against most other currencies and might loosen steam further. Economic data has been weaker compared to the US in particular. -Evergrande The Chinese real estate conglomerate Evergrande has received an order from a Hong Kong court to be liquidated. Since the property crisis in China has been dragging on for a long time another victim might be found now. According to a decision today, the company is being handled by provisional liquidators. -Market Talk Equities have resumed the week in positive territory, despite the Dollar gearing up steam against its peers. Worth noting that the AUD is currently still trading in a sideways pattern, without any fresh direction in sight. Due to the increase in geopolitical tensions also Gold prices moved higher, potentially causing a breakout to the upside for now. Also, Silver has moved to higher levels and could confirm the recent uptrend. Based on the weekly chart the market has created a substantial support pattern. As mentioned before, oil is looking set to push higher, too. This week is offering potential big market moves as not only the FOMC will gather and decide on their interest rate decision but also the Nonfarm Payrolls report on Friday might offer more volatility ahead.
