Wed-Time Stories (1932)

“A household cartoonlet by Joe Noble, and the Pathe Microbephone.“ Animation. The “microbephone“ (a radio microphone with a moving face) walks in the direction of a studio. The microbephone begins to tell a story about a couple of newly-weds. A woman walks towards a butcher’s shop. She asks for a leg of beef, hoping that there will be enough for two. The butcher brings out a huge slab of meat, tells her the price and asks if she wants it wrapped. She faints. The microbephone makes a joke and says “Girls, get to know your beef.“ A cow is drawn and descriptions of what women should look for in their beef accompany the animation. A caption reads: “British Oxen, the best in the world, should be 5 or 6 years old.
