Sonate a-Moll D 821 “Arpeggione“ - Franz SCHUBERT moderato Cristina Cordero (Viola) Nino Gurevich (Klavier) Hochschule für Musik und Theater München - Großer Saal 08/02/2019 - München - Deutschland ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Arpeggione (noun): “A six-stringed musical instrument of the nineteenth century, fretted and tuned like a guitar but bowed like a cello“ The Sonata in A minor for Arpeggione and Piano was written by Franz Schubert in Vienna in November 1824. This is the only substantial composition for the arpeggione, which remains extant today. It is written on a smaller scale, with three movements: a sonata form allegro moderato, a heartfelt, singing adagio and an allegretto rondo movement whose interludes are bursting with variety and energy.
