The Independent questions are the first two questions on the TOEFL. You don’t need to read or listen to anything. You are given a question, 15 seconds to prepare a response, and then 45 seconds to give a response. The key to these questions is: practice, practice, practice. Watch our lessons on how to answer Speaking questions, and then try it yourself. Practice TOEFL questions every day, if you can. This lesson gives you 10 practice questions. For each one, you’ll have 15 seconds to prepare, and 45 seconds to speak -- just like on the actual TOEFL. Try recording yourself at home on your computer or phone. Then listen to your questions afterwards to hear how you did, and how you can improve. Nobody likes doing that, but it’s a great way to get better on TOEFL Speaking.
