Welcome to the Fall Ball to Rule Them All. Step into your finest gowns and snazziest suits, because it’s time to enjoy an elegant night of dancing, music, tea and cakes on a rainy November evening! Enjoy the soothing and enchanting sounds of rain, distant thunder, and piano music as you flutter around the autumn ballroom with nary a care in the world. Help yourself to the some pumpkin cake and tea to keep yourself fuelled as you dance the night away. I wanted this scene to be splendiferous, dazzling! To pull at the heartstrings a wee bit. I wanted it to feel slightly ghostly, but heartwarming and enchanting at the same time. I just wanted something different, really. I thought about the old country homes owned by aristocrats, and how many of these homes were requisitioned during the second war and subsequently damaged and torn down, along with the memories of the grand parties they once held, the nights lubricated by wine, the men in their white ties, the women in sparkling gowns, dripping in jewels. I wanted the dancers floating in and out, sort of like aspirations. Like distant memories that are sometimes sharp and sometimes dull, their clarity losing focus as time moves forward.
