Gottschalk - El Cocoyé, Op. 80 (Grand Caprice Cubain de Bravura) 2nd version - Alan Mandel Piano

Louis Moreau Gottschalk (1829-1869) was an American pianist and composer from Louisiana. He composed this piece in 1853. This is the 2nd version which uses some different passages but is largely the same as the first version. I might create a video for the first version at a later date. There are a few available recordings of the 1st version. Alan Mandel was born in 1935 in New York City. He was known for including works by Scott Joplin and other rags in concerts along with other classical music, such as Chopin. He has recorded eight albums spanning from 1991-2006 Sources: Sheet Music: é,(Gottschalk,_Louis_Moreau) Gottschalk: Alan Mandel:
