Channel Migrants “Quietly“ Given Right To Work In UK

Migrants who crossed the Channel quietly gained the right to work in fields like care, construction, and agriculture. A Home Office program allows them to keep state-supported accommodations while working. Around 16,000 asylum seekers, including those who arrived by small boats, were permitted to work in a year, as revealed by data under Freedom of Information laws. They’re given jobs in sectors facing staff shortages and receive 80% of the regular pay rate. If they earn more than the £ weekly state allowance, they lose it. However, they can negotiate with the Home Office to stay in asylum housing by contributing to the costs. Dr David Bull and Dr Renee Hoenderkamp debate this heated topic with political commentator Lettice Bromovsky and former Labour aide Stella Tsantekidou. #news #politics #work #migrants #government #talktv #talkradio
