Mons Veneris (Portugal) - Untitled (EP 2021)

After a monolithic full-length of Black Ambient/Noise released last year through Black Gangrene, the portuguese tyrant started the year early, with this brilliant EP coming out on January 1st. A return to the Raw Black Metal sound, however never without surprises, never without showing a new facet, but simultaneously never showing any kind of compromise. Two lengthy tracks of pure satanic hysteria. The first one being a ritualistic offering of pure diabolic trance. Absolute delirium in the keyboards, perfectly leading the way for the doom-evoking guitars and malignant chants. The second one however starts of as an infernal blitzkrieg, featuring a higher melodicism and more traditional Black Metal structure, but with a middle section that surely evokes the most dungeon-y, delirious corners of Mons Veneris sound, with the mid-paced madness characteristic of some of the project’s best moments such as in the absolute classic, “Vicit Sathanas pater...
