The 5-5-5 boulder problem. 5 in Risk, 5 in Intensity and 5 in Complexity. Janja Garnbret, Prague BWC
The RIC scale is used by route-setters to assess the difficulty of a climb. With it, you can compare between climbs of the same grade.
RIC stands for Risk, Intensity and Complexity.
The scale has the values one to five. One on the scale meaning very below average, 3 being average, and 5 being way above average. So you could say a climb is below average in risk, high or above average in intensity, and average in complexity.
This problem though has it all - 5 in Risk, 5 in Intensity and 5 in Complexity and consequently can only be climbed by the very best, as a couple of weeks ago in the finals of the Prague Boulder World Cup!
