Winter is Coming! | Log Cabin Life

#logcabin #offgrid #winter Winter is coming and log cabin life is frantic for the next couple of weeks. I have a lot of projects that need to be finished, or ate least started before the snow starts falling and hiding the building materials. To make the wood-stove work more efficiently, I install a damper in the chimney pipe and paint it black while I have it torn apart. The ash tray underneath is leaking air so I install a washer on the handle so that it closes tighter. I finally cut down that dangerous leaning tree before I start building the sauna/bathhouse in it’s path. Using ropes and log levers, I cut it down with handsaws while the wind blasts through the treetops. I level out the ground for the sauna and I start gathering and peeling cedar logs for the walls of the bathhouse. For lunch and dinner, I make rice and beans with tomato sauce, onions, garlic and hot sauce, cooked on the bbq. Cali, our golden retriever, has a marrow bone for dinner and curls up on the dining area bench to sleep for
