Cumberland, Preston & Cheshire. British Pathe cameras are for the first time permitted into three atomic factories: Windscale in Cumberland, Springfields near Preston and Capenhurst in Cheshire. Succession of shots through the factories: control room, changing rooms, building areas, workers in protective clothing, barrels of the crude ore from which uranium is gleaned etc. Most o the film is centred on special clothing and precautions taken against radio activity.
