This is the second part of the intellectual interview with Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, author of “They Came Before Columbus: The African Presence in Ancient America.” During this episode, Dr. Ivan Van Sertima continues to expound on his theories of African presence in Ancient America or America pre-Columbus. Dr. Van Sertima does this by providing what could be considered evidence to prove this theory. As a historian, Sertima thinks vividly about the meaning of artifacts and archeological finds. In final question Listervelt asks, “what can we say about Africans and early America?” Dr. Ivan Van Sertima replies with the statement that Africans were not only present in America but also left a significant mark on the American civilization.
