Hand forging a small anchor of scrap iron (2020)

The forging of this small scale anchor has been inspired by the encyclopedias of Diderot in the 18th Century. One of the topics in these encyclopdias is the forging of anchors. These anchors were forged and forge welded of separate pieces of iron to make a larger whole! My goal is to learn from hand forging a small scale anchor with similar techniques that are shown in the encyclopedia. To name a few techniques, stacking and welding iron bars, forge welding on the palms to the arms of the anchor to form the flukes, forge welding the arms at the crown of the anchor and filling in gaps with filler bars or rods. I learned a tremendous amount from this project! Insta: BlacksmithJoey Email: TechnicusJoe@
