from Tribulation to Jubilation

“God created man for immortality, he made him in the image of his own nature. But death came into the world through the envy of the devil…” (Book of Wisdom 2, 23-24). The author of the letter to Adele suffers and undergoes harsh persecution, but is sure of victory. He writes to her friend whom he has not seen for a long time, and urges her to persevere in faith in Christ, despite living in a violent world hostile to the Gospel. He describes to her the hatred and degradation that reigns in cities, suburbs and families. The world is on the brink of a destructive war, but behind human conflicts lies the supernatural struggle: the humanity of Heaven is that which loves and serves the God of Love, the humanity of earth is that which is seduced by evil and goes towards eternal death.
