Trump wins South Carolina’s Republican primary, rematch with Biden in sight?
美공화 경선 5연승, 사법 리스크에도 트럼프로 결집한 공화
(MIN) Q1. Trump secured another victory in South Carolina’s primary. What significance did this win have for Trump?
(CHRIS) Q2. Though she lost, Nikki Haley has pledged to stay in the race through Super Tuesday --which is March 5th. However, it is widely expected that she won’t be able to see a positive twist. Some even say she will be urged to get out of the race. How do you see this?
(MIN) Q3. It seems the competition would eventually be between Biden and Trump, and Biden reportedly is extending his cash advantage over his opponent. Could you tell us more about this and could there be any specific reason behind Biden’s fund-raising outpacing Trump’s?
(CHRIS) Q4. Trump is currently facing a galaxy of legal problems, and his first criminal trial is slated to begin on March 25th. How are his ongoing legal issues and what effect will they have on the election?
(MIN) Q5. Meanwhile Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny died in a Siberian prison with some watchers labeling the circumstances suspicious. Trump is known to have a good relationship with Putin, and because of this many say Navalny’s death would have a negative effect on his race. How do you see this?
(CHRIS) Q6. Regardless of who becomes the next President of the U.S., some sources say no previous presidential election was focused as much on the vice presidency. This is due to Biden and Trump’s ages. Have there been past cases of the vice president stepping up to take the president’s role?
(MIN) Q7. As Kamala Harris is already serving as the vice president under Biden, all eyes are on who Trump’s pick for the role might be. Who are the candidates and what is Trump likely to be considering?
(CHRIS) Q8. Lastly, I would move on and see what could happen if Trump gets re-elected. He is reportedly going to plot a much more aggressive anti-immigration policy. Could you tell us more about this and what has been the reaction in the U.S. to such reports?
(MIN) Q9. Regarding tensions between the U.S. and China, Trump reportedly said he is considering imposing a tariff of 60% or higher on all Chinese imports if he regains his presidency. What economic impact is his return to the resolute desk going to have on global economy and relations between Washington and Beijing?
(MIN) Q10. Lastly, though we will have to wait and see how the presidential election actually unfolds, if Trump returns to the White House, would that in any way hurt bilateral ties between Washington and Seoul? What should Seoul be prepared for?
Unfortunately, that’s all the time we have for today’s edition.
Thank you, Professor Min and Chris for your time and insights.
We appreciate it.
