Government ends fracking ban to boost UK’s energy supply

The government has lifted a ban on fracking for shale gas, in place since 2019 because of concern over a series of tremors. Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg confirmed the move, saying that strengthening the country’s energy security is an “absolute priority“ in light of the war in Ukraine.
