On this day in 1982, Prince William was born. Diana, Princess of Wales gave birth to her first son at 9:03pm in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. The official announcement, made by the attachment of a notice to the gates of Buckingham Palace, was greeted with scenes of jubilation on London’s streets.
