The Tavares brothers had recorded one single for Capitol Records, “Check It Out“ that charted at #35 on the Hot100 in 1973. Then they met writer producers Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter who saw the band’s heritage in great groups like The Temptations and the Four Tops and then set about using that history to bring them to the attention of radio listeners today.
