Like Sam is the last man on earth, he’s probably actually really sad even though he doesn’t make it seem so. But he also has to fight and that’s what he does. Then the music gets more epic/hopeful instead of sad/lonely as the battle goes on, Sam is determined to kick aliens ass and save the world, he’s pretty much a one man army at this point (not that he wasn’t before). It’s just so fitting and epic, I love it.
