: Violin Chaconne in D Minor BWV 1004 on Clavichord

, Chaconne in D Minor (from Violin partita n°2 BWV 1004), keyboard. Isn’t that a perfect choice to start 2018 with? Transcription: Jacques Drillon (imslp) Wim Winters on his Saxon Potvlieghe Clavichord. And as always (really) when you make suggestions to me, I clicked on the link that lead to a much elaborated keyboard version, made by Jacques Drillon, of the D Minor chaconne. Just by looking on the score, my fingers couldn’t wait, so I immediately printed the score, generously given by mr. Drillon into the public domain. And set to play. It says “Clavecin ou piano“, but I guess the transcriber will not be offended if his wonderful transcription were to be played on a clavichord, the more as one of the few sources witnessing Bach play the clavichord (Agricola) is exactly mentioning him playing his violin partitas on the clavichord. I’ve changed minor things here and there, but overall, you hear the work of Mr. Drillon (and Bach of course). I should find time to dive into his work soon, since it is really “keyboardish“, though rather, if not very difficult to play. But not being a violin player myself, I believe that looking for some kind of technical borders is what partly defines this piece as well, so in that regard this transcription is within the spirit of that as well. Hope you like it! Looking forward reading your reflections in the comment section. w. Subscribe for more videos 👉 ================================================= Website: ▶
