Belt and Road Forum: Xi says China stands against unilateral sanctions, economic coercion

President Xi Jinping has said China stands against unilateral sanctions and economic coercion -- a thinly veiled retort to the US as he addressed the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing. Mr Xi lauded the “remarkable achievements“ of the trade and infrastructure investment project, and mapped out a blueprint for the road ahead. Representatives from over 140 countries are attending the Belt and Road Forum. Many are from developing countries and the global south, while top leaders from the West were noticeably absent from the event.
