Chester’s voice and Linkin Park’s electronic-fused rock productions have been part of the sound that makes the world seem the way it does to me since I was a kid. From In The End to countless other records and then a super-late introduction to Papercut (I don’t know how I missed it), at different parts of my life, some truly difficult ones, their sound, the lyrics, the depth of his voice and pain, has just found itself inside my blood-stream and is now part of me. When it’s cold, painful, and hard to move forward, It’s Linkin Park I listen to. Even if it’s Wave or Witch House or artists like The Glitch Mob, it’s Linkin Park’s electronic-infused haunting melodies I hear. They’re at the foundation of what dark music sounds to me, and everything else delivers the message they had, but in an evolved different way. To me, that’s truly amazing. They’re icons of music. Chester is like a greek God of music.
