Fires in Oregon and Washington continue to be the highest priority in the nation, with active acres burning, 31 Hotshot crews on the ground, 21 CIMTs or Type 1 Teams, and a total of 12,300 personnel.
The 47,000 acre Swawilla Fire in Washington, and the 173,000 acre Battle Mountain Complex in Oregon have 2,200 firefighters between them.
Fires remain understaffed in other regions, and dry lightning is expected across Southern Idaho and Northern Utah the next two days during red flag days. Wyoming has state wide Red Flag warnings, as do parts of Montana, Colorado, and California.
Resources are stretched thin, and one more big lightning bust and it’ll be 2012 all over again. One Hotshot crew per 15,000 acre desert fire. Salty.
