Renaud Capuçon plays Arvo Pärt: Spiegel im Spiegel (with pianist Guillaume Bellom)
The mesmerizing Spiegel im Spiegel, which violinist Renaud Capuçon has recorded with pianist Guillaume Bellom, was written in the late 1970s and is aptly titled: “mirror in the mirror“. As Renaud describes, “With all those long notes and repetitions, there’s a feeling of eternity. It’s like levitating for nine minutes.“ Discover more:
In autumn 2021, Renaud Capuçon became Artistic Director of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. His first album with the ensemble – and his first full-scale recording as a conductor (while also playing the violin in four of the eight pieces) – is devoted to the intricate, minimalist music of the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.
