On September 7, 2013 the de Young hosted a daylong symposium in association with the special exhibition, Richard Diebenkorn: The Berkeley Years, 1953—1966 (June 22—September 29, 2013). Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco director Colin B. Bailey and chief curator Julian Cox introduce the symposium.
