Buildings destroyed as earthquake hits Banten & Jakarta Indonesia 🇮🇩 January 14 2022 gempa Java

A 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit Banten Province on the island of Java in Indonesia on January 14th 2022. Buildings were destroyed near the epicentre of thr earthquake. Three strong aftershocks caused further damage, as residents assessed the situation. Emergency shelters have been set up to help those affected. Tremors were felt elsewhere on the island of Java, including in the capital city, Jakarta. Office workers left buildings for their safety as tremors shook them. Transport services stopped while the impact of the earthquake was assessed. Authorities have not issued a Tsunami warning, despite the proximity of the epicentre to the coast. There are still warnings in place, however, due to the possibility of further earthquakes.
