“I’M GOING FOR FIRST“ SAYS CLELAND! The Story of the 1992 BTCC Season Finale

Probably one of Murray Walker’s most quotable lines. The scene at Silverstone where an onboard camera from inside a Vauxhall showing John Cleland flipping off Steve Soper who had executed a fine tactical divebomb to help his team mate win the title. And Soper succeeded, not without punting Cleland off the road at Luffield just before the start of the final lap. But it’s at this point that the BTCC arrived on British television, and it’s stayed ever since. So what happened on that day to make John Cleland say he was going for first? Enjoy!
