U.S., UK Bomb Yemen, Houthis Issue Warning; Blinken Seeks India’s Help To Counter Red Sea Attacks

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken dialled India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, as American and British forces bombed Houthis in Yemen. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, in a post on ’X,’ informed that two leaders discussed the recent attacks on merchant ships by the Iran-backed Houthi in the Red Sea. During the telephonic conversation, Blinken emphasized that the Red Sea is a major commercial trade corridor and sought India’s cooperation in defending the freedom of navigation in the region. Meanwhile, the U.S. and the UK’s Navies bombed more than a dozen Houthi sites in Yemen this morning. The Houthi targets included an airbase, air defense systems, a military camp, and weapons storage areas. Tomahawk missiles and several fighter jets were involved in the airstrikes.
