Seirei no Moribito - Nahji no Uta on a music box

Seirei no Moribito is a 2007 anime adaptation of a light novel that takes place in a mild-fantasy medieval Japan. The events revolve around Balsa, a female spear wielding wanderer who gets charged by the Empress to protect the young prince Chagun from the Emperor’s assassins, as he believes that the child has been possessed with an evil water spirit that will bring ruin to the country unless he is killed even though doing so pains him greatly. This particular tune is a nursery rhyme sung by children in the streets that we hear several time over the episodes. I really enjoyed this show for its serious tone, its deceptively peaceful atmosphere in spite of an impending doom feeling, its compelling story, and its interesting non-stereotypical characters. This really isn’t your typical shônen-style action-packed manga, on the contrary. I found it very refreshing to watch and would warmly recommend you give it a chance!
