The Specials / The Selecter / Madness - 2 Tone - 1979 / 1980

I’ve been on a bit of a nostalgic 2-Tone trip down memory lane recently so here is some footage of The Specials, The Selecter and Madness filmed in the 2-Tone label’s heyday, ripped from the film ’Punk In England’, a segment of a trilogy of films that documented the late 1970’s punk and reggae scenes, filmed by Wolfgang Buld. The three films that make up the trilogy are; ’Punk In London’, ’Punk In England’ (where this footage was ripped from) and ’Reggae In A Babylon’ featuring bands from the UK reggae scene. All the documentaries are worth searching out, as they all give a decent representation of the grime of the late 1970’s era. There is some stunning live footage of bands as diverse as the 2-Tone bands above, Steel Pulse, X Ray Spex, Secret Affair, The Clash, The Slits, The Jam, Spizz 80, Aswad, Ian Dury, and Boomtown Rats and many others!
