Witness the rhythmic chugging of steam trains as they pass through St Enoch’s Station, while trams and buses transport enthusiastic crowds to Hampden Park for the exhilarating Scottish Cup final. Observe ferries gracefully carrying horses and carts across the Clyde, as well as the option to venture beneath the surface at Kelvin bridge subway station or navigate under the river through now obsolete rotundas. Alternatively, marvel at the grandeur of Glasgow’s picturesque bridges. Crafted by SEFA (Scottish Educational Film Association), an organization established in 1935 to advocate for the use of educational films and visual aids in education. SEFA worked closely alongside the Scottish Film Council to fulfil their mission, producing joint publications that explored various aspects of film in teaching, children’s viewing habits and utilising the resources of the Scottish Central Film Library. During the challenging years of the Second World War, SEFA organized mobile cinema shows in rural areas for evacuees. After the war, they continued collaborating with the Scottish Film Council, creating educational films that vividly portrayed different facets of Scottish life. Consequently, these films became a staple in classrooms across Scotland during the post-war era. This was a very dark film in places, very difficult to see what was happening. This resulted in a lack of detail being caught in the original film. Although I’ve lightened these scenes to balance the tone the difference in detail is apparent, particularly in the ferry shots. ✔ Tone balanced, dark sections made lighter/light sections made darker. ✔ Original film dissected for multi part AI processing. ✔ AI settings testing, optimised for the best upscale. ✔ Stabilised. ✔ Flicker reduced. ✔ Scratches, blemishes and other damage removed. ✔ Image noise removed. ✔ Image details recovered. ✔ Film sharpened. ✔ Music sourced, edited and added for ambience. ✔ Upscaled to HD.
