Jewish protesters call for Gaza ceasefire at Statue of Liberty

Five hundred Jewish Voice for Peace-New York City members and allies took over the Statue of Liberty on Monday calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Rabbis led those gathered on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty in songs, chants, and prayer while wearing shirts saying “not in my name.” Last month, Jewish Voice for Peace protesters also staged a large scale sit-in protest at Grand Central Terminal to demand a ceasefire. At least 10,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel began launching air strikes on Gaza on 7 October, after it faced a large-scale assault by Palestinian fighters earlier that day.
