We’ll start with building the sketch and analyzing reference photos. Then we move into painting the fish, getting nice blended, pigment-varied, rich and realistic digital watercolor effects. Finally, I’ll show you how a couple techniques for adding water reflections to really make this unique! You can use ANY watercolor brushes for this, and I’ll show you which attributes to look for in a brush that will give you the best results. BUT if you want to follow exactly, do check out my Ink & Watercolor set! I’m using the “Smooth Paint & Blend“ brush here. If you’re using my Flooded brushset, I recommend Watercolor Wizardry. :) Thanks for hangin’ with me to make some art. You’re the best. ❤️ Addie △△△△△△△△△△△△△△ 🖌 🖌 Shortlist of brushes / materials used: 🖌🖌 ✦ Canvas: Paper Texture 2, no splatters (Ink & Watercolor) ✦ Color: October 2021 Palette (available to newsletter subscribers) ✦ Sketch: Default 6B (or your pencil brush of choice) ✦ Painting: Smooth Paint & Blend brush (Ink & Watercolor) ✦ Blending: Soft Smudge (Ink & Watercolor) ✦ Erasing: Hard Airbrush (Default Procreate brush) △△△△△△△△△△△△△△ Timestamps: 00:00 - What We’re Painting Brushes Used 00:51 - Tips for Selecting Brushes 01:42 - Importance of Paper Textures 02:49 - How to Use Reference Images 3:59 - Sketching 7:37 - Painting the Fish 11:31 - Lily Pads 12:13 - Smudging 13:33 - Water Background 16:34 - Shadow 19:00 - Water Reflection 22:13 - Finished Painting ▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲ My equipment: ▲ PAINTING ▲ · Procreate App · iPad Pro (2020) 12.9“ : · Apple Pencil (Gen 2) : · Apple Smart Folio : ▲ FILMING ▲ I love geeking out over filming gear and always wonder what other people are using.
