LIVE: Millions brace for solar eclipse across North America

Millions of people across North America will today be gazing upwards to see a solar eclipse – a rare celestial phenomenon that will not happen for another two decades. Parts of Mexico will be plunged into darkness, followed by a number of US states as it curves north-east from Texas to Maine, and brushes the south-eastern tip of Canada. An estimated 32 million people across the US live within the line of totality, where the moon will totally obscure the sun for around four minutes.
