Why is MXGP Champion Jorge Prado testing Supercross in the USA?

For the past two weeks, 2023 FIM World Motocross Champion Jorge Prado has been in the United States testing and riding only supercross. Right after representing Spain at the Motocross of Nations, Prado hopped on a plane to California and has been riding supercross ever since. Why?
